You get to be ready for the International Baccalaureate, and other diplomas in the country.

While some schools follow the American and British curriculums, others follow the French and German education systems. You only need to choose what works best for you.

Understanding Education in Croatia

It is important to note that public primary and secondary education is free in the country. It is a provision by the Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports. In Croatia, elementary education takes eight years and is compulsory for all children. This is as stipulated by the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia. In the country, kids start going to school from 6 or 7 years. In Croatia, the literacy rate is approximately 98.1% and is among the highest globally.

Starting from 1st to the 4th grade, each class is assigned one teacher. They will teach Croatian, Mathematics, Visual Art, Nature and Society, Physical Education, Religion, Music Education, and a Foreign Language. For the foreign language, most children choose English. Beginning from the 5th grade to the 8th grade, different teachers now handle different subjects. They include history, geography, biology, chemistry, physics, informatics, and English. At this point, students will then select a second language (mostly German, Italian, or French).

International Schools

Croatian international schools are the best solution for ex-pat students. While the schools could also have local students, most of them are tailored to help international students. These schools will often follow different curriculum models mostly US, UK, France, and Australia. The primary instructions for learning are usually given in different languages, but the main ones are English or French. Being international schools, they have similar schooling standards so students can enjoy a smooth transition from one facility to another. For example, if a student is transiting from an International school in France, they can easily get into their dream international school program like the international baccalaureate.

As an aspiring international student, you must understand that admissions and enrollment requirements differ from one school to another. The space and slots are also given based on the nationalities, and tuition charges often seem higher than the regular standards. Even more, the schools boast high learning standards, small class sizes, and top-notch facilities. While some schools offer boarding facilities, some of them only allow day classes.
